Choose retention and buffer
Pick 85%, 90%, or 95% target retention. Set buffer days so new cards stop before the exam while reviews continue.

Read the FSRS load table
Check per-day new vs review counts, the last new-card day, and the time estimate (stated seconds per card).
5.
Export or build the deck
